Victoria has enjoyed over twenty five years working in tax, accountancy and audit. She started as an apprentice in Liverpool in 1989 with a small firm In Liverpool and since then has enjoyed senior roles both within industry and practice, successfully continuing her professional studies from AAT through to ACCA. Victoria has a full practising license with the AAT which enables her to provide full professional technical services to the business community; assisting enterprises with their compliance obligations.
Victoria very much enjoys supporting time pressured business people; taking away the strain that HMRC compliance often brings and bringing clarity and transparency to the financials of everyday business transactions. She provides insight and advice when needed to give business owners and managers the information and tools they need to move their business forward.
In her spare time Victoria enjoys spending time with her teenage children and her RAF husband. The active Cooper family enjoy travelling, camping and adventurous sports. Victoria is a member of the Ely City Hockey Club and often has the bruises to prove it during match season. Victoria also helps out with local Scouting events which her family also support on a regular basis. Her big passion is reading – anything from Jane Austen to Jeffery Deaver especially with a glass of prosecco in hand.
Lorraine has worked in practice since leaving school, qualifying as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1997 and has 25 years of experience within small accountancy firms. She enjoys interacting with clients and prefers a personable approach to her work.
In her own time Lorraine has a passion for cooking – she boasts a library full of cookery books and enjoys conjuring up gourmet meals from these. Lorraine keeps fit through a number of high intensity workouts each week and enjoys sports including hockey, tennis, walking and cycling. Lorraine loves travel and looks forward to holidaying in different countries and cultures. Her family takes most of her time up whether it be taking her son swimming, cycling or simply spending quality time with her family at home.
Julia joined a firm of Chartered Accountants in the late 1960s straight from school, where she received 5 years of formal training (although back in those unenlightened days women weren’t commonly articled so couldn’t gain the Institute of Chartered Accountants qualifications). From there, Julia’s career took her into the Corporate Travel and Hospitality industry, where she was responsible for day to day book-keeping, payroll and management accounting. 20 years ago Julia set up her own practice, building up a portfolio of some 20 clients. In 2017 Julia joined the ‘Red Shoes’ team and is looking forward to a long and happy relationship with them all.
When not working Julia enjoys relaxing at home with her partner of 15 years and their cat, along with trips to the Theatre, Concerts, Stately Homes and Gardens (she is a member of the National Trust) and walking.
Ryan studied Accounting and Finance at Nottingham Trent University. He has been working for Red Shoes for a few years now and is about to undertake a further qualification with the ATT. He is highly organised and very thorough which are good attributes for his tax and accountancy work.
Outside of work, Ryan plays football and is a bit health and fitness obsessed as you will find him in the gym every evening pumping iron. He also spends a lot of time improving his knowledge on training and nutrition and claims his body is a ‘temple’. If he’s not playing football or in the gym he likes to team up with his friends and challenge himself to a long muddy punishing obstacle course called Tough Mudder.
James attended Ely Sixth Form and completed a Business and Administration Diploma which has improved his organisation skills. He is currently on an AAT Accounting Apprenticeship at Red Shoes and is enjoying being part of a small supportive team.
James enjoys spending time with his friends, although this mainly ends up in them sitting around loudly enjoying shenanigans within the virtual world. James also has an interest in writing and often creates collaborative stories with his friends.
